Since the high bridge reopened, the crossing is fine outside rush hour and miserable inside it, so we cross before 7am or after 9:30am and leave the peninsula before the evening squeeze. When the high bridge closes overnight for maintenance, everything piles onto the low bridge, which also swings open for ship traffic, so a late-evening job can wait on a freighter. Once you're over, each pocket has its own catch. Fauntleroy Way SW backs up with ferry traffic on summer weekends, so a move near Lincoln Park or the terminal happens on a weekday. Alki Ave SW loses its parking to beachgoers by noon from June through September, so Alki jobs start at 8am. The Alaska Junction and Morgan Junction condos want elevator reservations, and light rail work is coming to the Junction and Delridge over the next few years. Admiral and Genesee hill houses sit above the road with stair runs, and we bring the third mover when the photo says so.

West Seattle produces a specific kind of junk: beach-house furniture that's been outside too long, hot tubs on Alki decks, and garages in Gatewood and Arbor Heights that hold a boat trailer's worth of everything.
