Senior Movers in Seattle & the Eastside: One Patient Crew, Start to Finish

Downsizing from the family house to a retirement community, an apartment, or a room at the kids' place. We move what's going, donate what's useful, haul the rest, and leave the old house swept. No rush, no pressure, one crew the whole way.

Moving after forty years in one house is a different job than a two-bedroom apartment move, and we treat it that way. One crew, the same faces all day, working at your pace. We move the keepers to the new place and set them up the way you want, drive the donations to a local charity, haul what's left, and leave the old house broom-swept for the sale. Families coordinating from out of town get photo updates the whole way.

  • One crew from the first box to the swept floor, no hand-offs
  • Keepers moved, beds rebuilt, furniture placed where you point
  • Donations driven to a local charity (receipt on request), the rest hauled by truck space
  • Retirement community move-in rules and elevator windows handled before the day
  • Coordinating from out of town? We text photos as we go

How a senior move goes with us

It starts with a walk-through, in person or over a video call with whoever is coordinating. We go room by room and sort into three piles: coming along, going to charity, going in the truck as junk. Anything that looks personal (photos, papers, jewelry) gets boxed and handed to you, not guessed at. On moving day the keepers load first, blanket-wrapped, and ride to the new place. We rebuild the bed, set the recliner where the light is good, get the TV plugged in, and put the kitchen boxes on the counter so the first night works. Then we go back for the donation run and the junk, and finish with a broom. If it's easier on everyone to split it across two days, we do that. Nobody gets rushed.

What senior moving costs

Same rate card as every move we do, nothing marked up for the word senior. The moving half is hourly: $119 per hour for two movers with the truck, blankets and dollies, or $159 per hour for a three-person crew when the house is big, and no travel fee. A typical downsizing move from a house into a one- or two-bedroom apartment runs four to six hours. The haul-away half is priced by the space it takes in our 16-ft truck: a 1/4 truck is $349–$499, a half truck $649–$899, a full truck $1,299–$1,599, labor and disposal included. Donation drop-offs happen on the same hourly clock, and everything a charity takes is space you don't pay junk pricing for. You get one written quote covering both halves before the day, and the number doesn't move once we start.

Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond and the retirement community rules

We're in Kirkland, so most of these moves are short drives: Juanita or Finn Hill to a community near Totem Lake, a Bellevue house to an apartment in Redmond, a Sammamish split-level to a daughter's place in Bothell. Seattle is one bridge away on SR-520, whether the new place is a high-rise on First Hill or a smaller house in Wallingford, and I-405 covers Bothell down to Renton. Retirement communities each have their own move-in rules: reserved loading docks, elevator pads, quiet hours, sometimes a form the mover has to sign in advance. Send us the move-in packet when you book and we'll plan around it and tell you straight what we can provide. If the old house is going on the market, we can come back after the move for a full cleanout, and the swept, empty house is ready for the listing photos. Family out of state gets the same photo updates either way.

They came through last minute after other services failed to show... Worked hard, fast, and with immense skill. Stellar attitude, not one complaint. Rare to find such skilled labor for such fair pricing these days. 10/10.

Senior Moving Questions

How much does a senior move cost?
The move is hourly, $119 per hour for two movers with the truck (or $159 for three), with no travel fee; most downsizing moves run four to six hours. Anything hauled away is priced by truck space, from $349–$499 for a quarter truck. One written quote covers both before the day.
Can I coordinate this from out of town?
Yes, and a lot of families do. We can do the walk-through over a video call, work from a list you send, and text photos at each stage: what's loaded, what went to the charity, the empty rooms at the end. Lockbox or a neighbor with a key both work. You pay when the job is done.
How long does a downsizing move take, and how soon can you come?
Most take one long day: four to six hours of moving, then the donation and junk runs. We can split it over two days if that's easier on everyone. Booking a week ahead is comfortable; month-end weekends fill first. Retirement communities usually need their dock reserved, so tell us the move-in date early.
What happens to the furniture that doesn't fit in the new place?
Three ways out. Good pieces go to a local charity on our way, and we can get you a donation receipt. Anything a family member wants can ride along to their house on the same trip if it's nearby. The rest goes in the truck as junk, priced by the space it takes, and never straight to the landfill if it can be recycled.

Let's get you moved.
