Queen Anne Movers Built for the Hill

Forty steps from the curb to the front door on W Highland Dr, a fourth-floor condo in Uptown, a family home on Bigelow Ave N. We bring straps, extra hands, and a plan for where the truck actually fits.

Queen Anne is one hill with two different moves on it. Up top, the houses on Bigelow, Highland, and 8th Ave W sit above the street behind long stair runs and retaining walls, and the truck stays at the curb while everything walks. Down in Uptown, the condos near Seattle Center run on reserved elevators and arena traffic. We do both from Kirkland, about 30 minutes over SR-520, at $119 per hour for a 2-man crew with the truck included.

Moving on Queen Anne: grades, stairs, and the Mercer mess

The Counterbalance on Queen Anne Ave N is steep enough that we don't stop the truck on it; we take the gentler grades on the north or east side and park on the flat first. Streets on the west slope like W Highland Dr and 7th Ave W are narrow, with no alleys and parked cars on both sides, so the crew walks pieces further than usual, and the hours reflect the carry, never a stair charge. Long exterior stair runs get straps, a spotter, and padded railings. Uptown is a different job: buildings around Seattle Center and Roy St want a freight elevator reserved, and on Kraken game nights and concert days the Mercer St corridor stalls completely. We check the Climate Pledge Arena calendar before booking a Lower Queen Anne move and start early or late to miss it. Getting off I-5 at Mercer is slow at any hour, so we often come around on Aurora and drop in on Roy.

Junk removal on Queen Anne

The hill's older homes hold a lot. A basement on North Queen Anne can have three generations of furniture in it, and a garage off 10th Ave W usually has the sailboat gear that never made it to the marina. We price by how much of the 16-ft truck it fills: single item $89–$139, quarter truck $349–$499, half truck $649–$899, three-quarter truck $999–$1,299, full truck $1,299–$1,599, with every carry down those steps included. A family selling on Bigelow Ave N had us clear the basement and garage before listing: two sofas, a piano bench, a broken fridge, patio furniture, boxes of books, and a mountain of lumber offcuts. That came to a three-quarter truck, $999–$1,299, and the listing photos went up two days later. Old TVs and computers are a $59 add-on. Usable pieces go to donation, and hot tub removal runs $225–$400 if the deck spa is coming out too. Text photos to (206) 609-5581 for a real number.

How we price a hill house honestly

Every Queen Anne quote starts with one question: how far is the front door from where the truck can stop? On flat streets that's twenty feet. On Highland, Comstock, or the west-slope stair streets it can be a hundred feet of steps, and we'd rather tell you that up front than surprise you on the bill. Our rate stays $119 per hour for two movers or $159 for three, with no travel fee; the stairs only change how many hours the job takes, and we estimate that from a photo of the approach. For big carries we add the third mover, because two people walking a dresser up forty steps is slower than three people leapfrogging it. We work 8am to 10pm, seven days, and our 4.9-star rating from 32 Google reviews includes a fair number of Queen Anne hill jobs. Call or text (206) 609-5581 with a photo of your stairs and we'll give you an hour range that holds.

Moving in Queen Anne: Quick Answers

Do you charge a stair fee for Queen Anne houses?
No stair fee, ever. A long stair carry adds time, so it can add an hour or two to the job, and we say so when we quote. The rate itself doesn't change: $119 per hour for a 2-man crew, $159 for three. Sending a photo of the approach gets you the most accurate hour range.
Can you move me out of an Uptown condo on an event night?
We'd rather not, and neither would you. Arena events jam Mercer, Roy, and 1st Ave N for hours. Tell us the date and we'll check the Climate Pledge Arena schedule, then aim for a morning slot or a quiet day. Your building's elevator window still comes first.
Where does the truck park on a narrow Queen Anne street?
We look at the block before we quote. On the west slope we usually take the nearest spot on a cross street with room for a 16-ft truck and carry from there. Ask your neighbors to keep the curb by your gate clear the morning of the move; that saves more time than anything else.
