Piano Movers in Seattle & Bellevue: Uprights at the Normal Hourly Rate
Upright, spinet and console pianos ride our lift-gate truck under blankets and straps for the same $119 per hour as any other move. No piano surcharge. Grand pianos and long staircases get a custom quote after you text a photo.
A piano is the one piece of furniture people are scared to move themselves, and for good reason: a full upright weighs 500 to 800 pounds on four small casters. We move uprights, spinets and consoles all over Seattle and the Eastside with a two-person crew, a lift-gate truck, thick blankets, straps and dollies. You pay our normal hourly rate. If it's a grand, or the piano lives up a full flight of stairs, text a photo and we'll quote it plainly.

- Don't want it anymore? Hauled as junk from the 1/4 truck tier, $349

What a piano move costs
Upright, spinet and console pianos move at our regular rate: $119 per hour for two movers with the lift-gate truck, blankets, straps and dollies included, and no travel fee. The 2-hour minimum applies, and most uprights going across town fit inside it, so a typical Kirkland-to-Bellevue upright lands at $238 all-in. If the piano is riding along with the rest of a household move, there is no extra line for it at all; it just takes the crew a few more minutes to wrap and strap. Grand and baby grand pianos need the legs and lyre removed and a different setup, and stairs past a single landing change the plan, so those two cases get a custom quote after you text us a photo of the piano and the path out. The number we give you before the job is the number you pay.
How the piano move goes
Text us a photo of the piano and the path to the door and we'll confirm the price and an arrival window. On the day, we look at the route first: doorway widths, the turn at the bottom of the porch steps, how close the truck can back in. Then the piano gets wrapped in thick blankets, strapped so the lid and fallboard can't swing open, and tipped onto a dolly with one mover on each end. It rolls to the truck and rides the lift gate up, no ramp balancing act. Inside it goes against the wall, strapped to the rails, keys facing in, so nothing leans on it. At the new place we roll it to the exact spot you point to, pull the blankets, and set the casters down gently. Give it a couple of weeks to settle into the new room, then call your tuner; that part is normal after any move.
Pianos across the Eastside, and the ones nobody wants
We're based in Kirkland, so the Eastside piano run is short: Bellevue, Bothell and Woodinville are a few exits up or down I-405, Redmond is a few minutes east, and SR-520 puts us in Seattle in about twenty minutes when the bridge is behaving. Typical jobs: a music room in a Ballard or Queen Anne craftsman, a teacher's studio in Wallingford, a downtown Bellevue apartment with an elevator reservation, a church hall in Redmond. The other half of the piano business is the piano nobody wants: the console that came with the house, the upright the kids stopped playing in 2009. Most donation centers won't take one. We haul it as junk, priced by truck space starting at the 1/4 truck tier, $349, with all the labor and disposal included. Text a photo to (206) 609-5581 and we'll give you a firm number back.
